Metro Manila police chief Debold Sinas dismissed 5 San Juan police personnel who allegedly violated the health protocol in Baguio City.

Sinas has ordered the transfer of 5 to the NCRPO's Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit as the incident continues.

The five included in the convoy of San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora, who was met by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong after passing the Kennon Road checkpoint and did not undergo mandatory triage health examination.

Zamora has already apologized to Magalong.

The former stated that the reason they were going to Baguio was for his wife with stage 3 breast cancer, who had to live there for several weeks following the doctor's notice that he needed rest. It turns out they have an old house there.

"I will not condone any wrongdoing of our police officers in the implementation of the community quarantine protocols, if held responsible," Sinas said.

“We, as law enforcers, are bound to respect the existing rules and regulations anywhere in the Philippines. The safety of the people remains our top priority in these trying times, ”he said.

The public first criticized Sinas in May for allegedly violating social distancing and mass gathering protocols after he was entertained by his fellow officers.

According to the chief, the Regional Internal Affairs Service and RIAS at the Police Regional Office - Cordillera have been investigating the incident in Baguio.
