Only online sellers who's revenue is above PHP 250,000 will be required to pay for TAX - GazeFeed


The palace clarified to the public that not all online sellers are required to pay for TAX. But still required to register their business permit to BIR and DTI and update their statement annually to Bureau of Internal Revenue. 

In public conference, Spokesperson Harry Roque emphasized the false assumption of the public that every online sellers are required to pay for TAX. On Thursday, he justified that not all of online sellers will be required to pay for TAX, those merchant who earns 250,000PHP above will be the one who will be required to pay for the tax. 

Although the exemption is being said, still those merchants who's revenue is below 250k, they are still required to register to BIR and update their statements on the said submissions. 

"Talaga naman pong meron tayong exemptions na tinatawag under sa tax reform act [We really have exemptions under the tax reform act]," Roque said.

The government also needs funds to support and fight against this pandemic, "our primary source of funds as of the moment in fighting against COVID19 is coming from BIR and CUSTOMS. 

"Humihingi lang po ako ng pag-intindi sa ating publiko dahil kung wala naman tayong kaban, wala tayong ayudang maibibigay."

I am asking for consideration to the public, because if we don't have money, we cannot give cash aid. [Translated] Roque added.
