Given the importance of quarantine protocols and physical distancing measures against COVID-19 and other health emergencies, the country needs to be prepared for possible future pandemics.

This is what Senator Bong Go said in connection with the passage of Senate Bill No. 1259 or the Mandatory Quarantine Facilities Act of 2020 which seeks to establish quarantine facilities in every region of the country.

“Let us learn from this COVID-19 experience. Today, as we fight the COVID-19 disease, we are preparing the country for any crisis that may come our way, ”said Go.

The senator explained that it is important for each locality or region to have its own quarantine site yet to accommodate high-risk individuals suspected of infectious disease.

"We just need to be proactive and start putting in place measures that will ensure our readiness for future crises like this," the lawmaker said.

The quarantine facilities will meet the needs of the individuals subject to the quarantine, including food, quantity, communication and competent medical care.

Patients should be accessible to the DOH hospital.

DWPH is in the sense LGUs, in charge of quarantine falility construction while DOH is responsible for the operation and management of the facility.

“Until no vaccine is discovered on COVID-19, our fight against it continues. So we should not be complacent in the fight against this virus, ”Go said.
