Miss England who’s a doctor in profession, sets down her crown to fight against COVID-19 - GazeFeed


Amid the battle of COVID-19, we are losing our brave heroes which namely our front liners. We lose doctors and nurses every day and that is really painful knowing those brave individuals fight against the deadly threat of the said virus.

Miss England who’s also a doctor in her profession decided to set aside her crown and help the public to fight against COVID-19! Her story went viral and inspired the netizens with her brave decision!


Bhasha Mukherjee was crowned and won the title Miss England last year. Last year, she compete and represented their country for the Miss World pageant. Although she didn’t get the crown, she remains Miss England and represented their country in many advocacies of Miss World.

As what the Miss World pageant slogan says, “Beauty with a Purpose” contestants are expected to have advocacies and make a humanitarian change across the world during their reign. In which resulted, Mukherjee brought in different countries.

“I was invited in Africa, to Turkey, then to India, Pakistan and several other Asian countries to be an ambassador for various charity work,” she said.

But even Mukherjee has known to be an Indian doctor in origin, she decided to help England frontlines after knowing that there are overflowing of patients in hospitals of England.

There were overflowing of patients in England and we only have few doctors, we need to help them. Especially at the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston which she formerly worked before.

She contact the management of the hospital and quickly asked permission if she could go back to work and help the frontlines team.

“When you are doing this humanitarian work abroad, you’re still expected to put the crown on, get ready… look pretty. I wanted to come back home. I wanted to come and go straight to work”, Miss England said.

“I felt a sense of this is what I’d got this degree for and what better time to be part of this particular sector than now. It was incredible the whole world was celebrating all key workers, and I wanted to be one of those, and I knew I could help. There’s no better time for me to be Miss England and helping England at a time of need.”
