A nurse in Manila was disgruntled after she received discrimination from her neighbor for being a frontliner in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Kenneth Henry Goyena, nurse at the Philippine General Hospital, said Friday the incident happened. He returned home to his condominium unit in Malate with other co-workers.

The condo guard later knocked with a neighbor complaining because he was just coming home.

“She said that I should be evicted from the building and quarantined in a government designated facility together with all other healthcare workers. And that having us in proximity to them places them at greater risk of getting the infection,” Goyena said.

She added that a female neighbor told her that she was merely protecting herself because it was part of a vulnerable group.

“She was also complaining about washed clothes hanged and shoes placed on MY balcony. I told her “No, you are not protecting yourself. Youre being selfish! 'Knowing that the nurse and institutional worker that I work with on duty these days at the hospital are both senior citizens,” Goyena said.

He allegedly intends to sue the neighbor for violating the Anti-COVID-19 Discrimination Ordinance.
