Government officials who came to the Chamber have tended to retaliate after trying to replicate the frontliners' call for Filipinos to stay home to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks.

Holders of the sign include Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and other lawmakers.

"Together with doctors and frontliners, we went to work for you so please stay home for us," according to the sign attached to the Manila paper.

The officials did not escape the eye of the netizens, and they only said one thing: The Poor.

Tweet by @glydsurbano: “HOW DARE YOU COMPARE YOURSELVES WITH OUR BRAVE DOCTORS, NURSES AND OTHER FRONTLINERS !!! THE FUTURE OF HIM. YOU ALL DISGUST ME !!! ”

@ Ramjohnb31 says: “Wow ha! Almost 2 weeks I was in the hospital with the fear that I might be bringing home a virus. No mask and PPE were provided. This and unnecessary tests by these politicians and their staffs and their staff’s relatives. Your face is thick. ”

According to @jervieve: “The thickness of the face! You should be the first one serving the people! #NoToVIPCovidTesting. ”
According to @krllssllpnflr: “I don't know whats worse, this pandemic or the PH government. THE BEST! ”

Former Quezon representative Erin Tañada was reminded that it was the duty of government officials to serve the people.

“We owe them nothing. It is their job to work. They don't need to hold a sign and announce to the Filipinos that they are working. Do they think we should be indebted to them? There should be none. Self-sacrifice right! The doctors and frontliners don't announce they are working, ”he said on Twitter.

The term “The Poor” has become a trending topic on Twitter as an excuse for officials attending Monday's special session.

Only a few attended the Chamber and held a special session via Skype on President Rodrigo Duterte's request for emergency power against COVID-19.
