Cayetano says, "We are not front-liners!" - GazeFeed

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano explained their signage held at a special session of Congress on the emergency powers bill against coronavirus.

During the session, Cayetano, as well as several Cabinet members of President Rodrigo Duterte and several congressmen, seemed to be mocking the healthcare frontliner in a poster with the caption: "Together with doctors and frontliners, we went to work for you, so please stay home for us. ”

Cayetano has since been sued because lawmakers and some government officials seem to be comparing themselves to health workers who are taxing their lives to treat those with COVID-19.

So Cayetano released a statement on Facebook and made it clear that they have no intention of comparing themselves to healthcare workers or other frontliners.

“No, we're not comparing ourselves to the frontliners. Hats off, far away. The frontliners. every single second they're risking their lives. So we, we are just extending the message, stay home, ”he promised.

“If you have any symptoms, isolate yourselves. If you are positive and need to be in the hospital, go to the hospital, ”he said.

On the other hand, there are also memes running in the internet about the latest sign that Cayetano and the other group of members of them holding it. Some netizens, edited the photo and made it more funny which went viral.
