An aircraft crashed carrying medical supplies, caught fire at NAIA; 8 people dead - GazeFeed


An aircraft owned by Lionair Inc. with tail number RPC5880 crashed carrying medical supplies. Eight people were right away reportedly dead on the spot. 

According to the MIAA, the accident happened around 8 p.m at the end of the runway, including West Wind 24 aircraft.

The nationalities of the victimis dead were indentified, namely; one American, one Canadian, six Filipinos. That's per according to MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal said a couple of hours ago during on his news conference after the incident. 

According to the preliminary investigations conducted, "the plane encountered a technical problem", the Civil Aviation Authority stated. The plain flew to Iloilo who was schedule to deliver medical supplies. 

The runway has been temporarily close due to what happened. On the other hand, Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) chief investigator Rainier Baculinao has been assigned to investigate the specific cause of the accident.
